Prayers from the Pieta Prayer Book

An Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for all my sins because of them
I deserve the eternal pains of hell, but most of all because I have
offended Thee my God who art all-good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, to do
penance, to avoid the proximate occasion of sin and never to sin anymore.
Amen.

 My Daily Offering

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys,
and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout
the world.  I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart:  the salvation of
souls, reparation for sin, the union of all Christians.  I offer them for the intentions
of our Bishops and of all Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for those recommended
by our Holy Father this month.

 Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me.
And bid me come to Thee.
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee.
Forever and Ever. Amen.

Prayer to defeat the work of Satan

O Divine Eternal Father, in union with your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit,
and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg You to destroy the Power
of your greatest enemy – the evil spirits.

Cast them into the deepest recesses of hell and chain them there forever!
Take possession of your Kingdom which You have created and which is rightfully
yours.

Heavenly Father, give us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate
Heart of Mary.

I repeat this prayer out of pure love of You with every beat of my heart and with every
breath I take.  Amen.

 For the Souls in Purgatory

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon
them and may they rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of Battle
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the power of God, cast into Hell,
Satan and all the other evil spirits,
who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls.  Amen.

 The Golden Arrow

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most mysterious,
and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved,
adored, and glorified in heaven on earth and under the earth, by all
the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus
Christ in the most Holy Sacrament of the altar.

 A Prayer for Priests

Keep them, I pray Thee, dearest Lord,
Keep them, for they are Thine –
Thy priests whose lives burn out before
                Thy consecrated shrine.
Keep them, for they are in the world,
                Though from the world apart;
When earthly pleasures tempt, allure –
                Shelter them in Thy heart.
Keep them, and comfort them in hours
                Of loneliness and pain,
When all their life of sacrifice
For souls seems but in vain.
Keep them, and O remember, Lord,
They have no one but Thee,
Yet they have only human hearts,
                With human frailty.
Keep them as spotless as the Host,
                That daily they caress;
Their every thought and word and deed,
                Deign, dearest Lord, to bless.

Prayer for Daily Neglects

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
with all its Love, all its Sufferings, and all its Merits.

First – To expiate all the sins I have committed this day
and during all my life.  Glory be to the Father and to the
Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now and every shall be world without end. Amen.

Second – To purify the good I have done badly
this day and during all my life.  Glory be to the
Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as
it was in the beginning, is now and every shall be
world without end. Amen.

Third – To supply for the good I ought to have done,
and that I have neglected this day and during all my life.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the
Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and
every shall be world without end. Amen.

 Litany of Humility
O Jesus! Meek and humble of heart, hear me
From the desire of being esteemed,

From the desire of being loved,
From the desire of being extolled,
From the desire of being honored,
From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being calumniated,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
That others may be esteemed more than I,
That in the opinion of the world, others may increase, and I may decrease,
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
That others become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should.
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

Chastity Prayer Watch Intercession Prayer

Lord God, I come before You in repentance of my sins.  I know you forgive when I repent.  Thank you Lord for your forgiveness.

Lord, I come before you as an intercessor for your people.  I know that I am not worthy, but Lord it is You who call me.  Clear my heart and make me a channel of your grace to your people.

Lord, I bow down before your holiness and ask you to send your graces upon your people, particularly married couples who are struggling with marital chastity.  Lead married couples away from their contraceptive mentality to an openness to life and lead those who have a serious reason to postpone pregnancy to natural family planning.

Lord, I also pray for unmarried people who struggle with chaste living.  Grant them the graces and strength necessary to live out chastity in thought, word, and deed.

I pray in your name, Jesus, against the spirit of lust that so dominates life in the world.  Lord, free us all from the influence of the spirit of lust and give us the grace of chastity.

Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end.  Amen.
